About
A European in Taipei, writing about managing people.
I'm Ludovic. I work in marketing in Taipei, on consumer brands selling into Europe.
I've managed people and I've been managed, mostly in small companies where the founder is in the room. Both sides of that shaped what I think, and the second one probably more than the first. It's easy to have clear opinions about how a team should be run until you're the one running it, and easy to forget how a decision feels from the other end once you're the one making it.
What I write about
Delegation, which almost everyone calibrates wrong in one direction or the other. Conflict, which people put off for longer than they should. What happens to a team when there's no room left in its week. Mostly things I got wrong, or watched go wrong, and kept turning over afterwards.
Writing is how I think things through. If any of it is useful to someone else, good.
I write in English. I've lived in Taiwan for ten years and speak Chinese every day, but English is where I think clearly.
